Chapter One · 2012 – 2016
The Hadoop Wave
San Francisco, 2012. As a Private Banker at First Republic, I had a front-row seat to something: the engineers, founders, and operators flooding into the Bay Area were building an entirely different kind of economy. The energy was impossible to ignore.
When MapR offered me a role as an SDR, I took it. That bet dropped me into the Hadoop wave at the ground floor (MapR, Altiscale, Talend, Impetus), the companies laying the distributed infrastructure that would eventually make everything else possible.
Those years were a masterclass in selling complex technology to people who didn't yet know they needed it: Fortune 500 CIOs, data engineering teams, infrastructure buyers. You learn what a system actually does when you have to break it down for someone who will write a check based on what you tell them.

Chapter Two · 2017 – 2022
U.S. Navy · USS Bonhomme Richard
Five years of active duty. Honor Graduate, Yeoman A-School (99.17% GPA). Stennis Center of Excellence Award. Surface Warfare Specialist. Two meritorious promotions.
Above the numbers: led manning, logistics, and compliance for the 400-sailor Engineering Department aboard a ship of 1,200+, forward-deployed to Japan.
The Navy doesn't teach you discipline by explaining it. It creates conditions where undisciplined behavior produces immediate, visible consequences. That's a different kind of education. It transfers.

Chapter Three · 2022 – Present
The AI Era
Revenue Operations at Bags In Bulk: first dedicated hire. Built the data substrate and the governance model before the AI: pipeline, forecast, attribution, and the GTM stack, then production Vertex AI and Gemini for forecasting, segmentation, and churn prediction, before AI was standard equipment.
Then the practice caught up with the principle. AIGP certification through the IAPP. Blue Jacket Consultancy, The Josephite Ark, PoolTime. And Watchbill™: the supervision system behind my own properties, turned into a product, with its own MCP server. Where the ecosystem builds servers that extend what agents can do, this one makes what they do accountable.
The through-line across all three chapters is the same: build the substrate before you deploy anything on top of it. Put a named human over every agent. Supervise before you scale.
